Mission Statement

Education and Advocacy

“frivolous” is an RGV-based, non-profit magazine dedicated to supporting marginalized communities by promoting education and advocacy. We aim to learn and grow with our audience.

Jazmine is a 21-year-old Chicana student studying English literature with a minor in Secondary Education and Gender and Women Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.

Zitlalit is a 21-year-old University of Texas RGV graduate with a major in political science and minor in philosophy. “I want frivolous to be daring, inspiring, and most importantly- real. It’s what we need.”

Calista Robledo is a storyteller from Weslaco TX. She currently attends St. Edward’s University in Austin TX. where she’s double majoring in Catholic Studies and Writing & Rhetoric with a concentration in Creative Writing. Calista is ready to bring her passion for social justice to her work in frivolous and finally write about topics close to her heart.

Bee is a nonbinary and queer historian studying in Denton, TX. They're excited to combine their knowledge and perspective of queer history to frivolous and promote intersectional feminism!
